Finance Team Description

Our Finance Team focuses on collecting and managing all ministry funds. They assess and collect revenues and expenses and properly steward financial obligations for the organization.
 
Finance Team Lead – The Finance Team Lead oversees the finance team assuring that all ministry financial needs are met and stewarded efficiently.
 
Finance Team Lead Responsibilities

  • Finance Team Lead responsibilities are handled by the Lead Trustee of the church.

  • Collect and deposit contributions from partners.

  • Prepare giving statements for partners.

  • Manage payroll and church expenses.

  • Monitors profit margins.

  • Monitors the budget every month by reviewing the actual dollars that come in, the actual dollars that go out, and analyzes any variances.

  • Makes midyear adjustments if the budget projections fall short or unexpected expenses come up.

  • Creates monthly and quarterly reports to keep church leadership apprised of spending and budget variances.

  • Ensures there are safe places to store cash, that no one is ever alone with money and that there is constant supervision of partners, volunteers, or employees who come in contact with cash.
 

  • Schedule team members to serve in collecting partner contributions from weekly in-person worship services and special events.

  • Train the Finance Team members on how to effectively steward the financial responsibilities and budget of the church.

  • Schedule team outings once per quarter to build relationships and a sense of community amongst the team.

  • Identify potential leaders amongst the team who would benefit from going through ANWA-VA Leadership Training.

  • Check in monthly with each individual finance team volunteer to be aware of their spiritual, mental, emotional and physical state in an in effort to maintain a holistically healthy team.

  • Complete the monthly & quarterly ANWA-VA Ministry Team Evaluation Form.
 
Finance Team Responsibilities

  • Analyzes historical giving, attendance patterns, and average donations.

  • Establishes the global budget based on revenue projections and allocates dollars to individual departments and ministry teams.

  • Allocates a percentage of budget dollars to emergency funding. Sets aside a percentage of revenue to an emergency fund bucket.

  • Connects every expenditure to its support of our church vision and mission.

  • Challenges any spending that does not support the church mission, vision, or ministry goals.

  • Works with the church board to ensure there are proper financial controls of church assets.
  • Follows cash handling policies and audits the process of anyone who handles church money.

  • Creates and implements strategies within the church budget for paying down debt.

  • Trains ministry team leads on how to manage their team budget, how to read and interpret financial reporting statements and how to address departmental budget variances.
 
Finance Team Lead Requirements

  • Must be a follower of Jesus Christ, having made a public confession of faith.

  • Must be a partner of All Nations Worship Assembly-VA having completed Discovery and Foundations Class.

  • Must have served as a volunteer on a ministry team of ANWA-VA for at least a year.

  • Must go through ANWA-VA Leadership Development Training.

  • Must attend weekly worship services and support other ministry events.

  • Must attend monthly team lead meetings and host monthly meetings for the team in which you lead. 

  • Must have experience in financial and/or administrative duties to include counting, budgeting, managing and stewarding money. 
 
·      Must have the ability to listen to and communicate with people of all ages; the ability to work with other ministry leaders; the ability to model and teach a variety of ways of effectively managing and budgeting corporate finances; the ability to organize teams, delegate responsibility, and follow up to complete tasks.

  • Must be willing to continue to grow spiritually and professionally through reading, listening to training resources, taking classes and attending conferences and seminars to help you better lead your team.
  • Must complete a background check.

  • Must be on time for all worship services, team meetings and ministry events.

  • Must be a tither and cheerful giver.

  • Must be a team player.
 
Finance Team Volunteer Requirements

  • Must be a follower of Jesus Christ, having made a public confession of faith.

  • Must be a partner of All Nations Worship Assembly-VA having completed Discovery and Foundations.

  • Must complete a background check.

  • Must have experience in financial and/or administrative duties to include counting, budgeting, managing and stewarding money.

  • Must attend monthly team meetings, team trainings and support other ministry events.

  • Must be on time for all worship services, team meetings and ministry events.

  • Must be a team player.
